I’ve seen etrailer and Curt hitches for the Crosstrek too. How does the Trailer Mate compare?

Nicole, good question. All three are quality hitches, but the Trailer Mate # TMT94FR (fits 2018-2026 Crosstrek non hybrid models) is positioned as a more budget-friendly option. It has the lowest weight ratings 1,500 lbs compared to Curt and etrailer’s 3,500 lbs. This will only matter if you have the Wilderness trim which has an increased weight rating and would then benefit from the Curt or etrailer hitch. If you don't have Wilderness, your Crosstrek has the standard 1,500lbs / 150lb tongue weight rating which will work perfectly fine with Trailer Mate's offering.

For accessories like bike racks and light-duty carriers, the Trailer Mate does the job just fine. Which matters more to you - price point or capacity margin?
