Can Watchdog Power Center Surge Protector and Voltage Booster Wire to Outlet of RV

Updated 11/20/2025 | Published 08/14/2025

Question:

2021 Airstream Flying Cloud 30 RBQ. Id like to hardwire this into the Airstream. Looks like cutting the plug off would take care of the input side of things. How difficult would it be to remove the outlet and get to the wires on that side?

Hey David, do you mean to cut the plug off of the Watchdog Power Center Surge Protector and Voltage Booster # HU74ZR and then wire it to your RV outlet? If so, it would be just a matter of cutting and stripping wires to pull this off.

That’s the first part. That will connect the device to shore power. My question concerns the other side of the device. From the pictures it appears that I am supposed to plug into output side. I want to hard wire the trailer to the device. How hard is it to remove the outlet from the device and connect directly to the wires?

@DavidL Well it's not really designed to come apart for that purpose so it would take most likely at least some modifications to make that work. I am sure it's possible but I don't have a set of instructions.

@S I see what you mean. I mean it's probably possible but I wish we had a kit just like that that was designed for internal wiring.
