Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at the hardwired mounting kit for the Hughes Autoformer's 50-amp voltage booster. So if you already have a Hughes autoformer, normally you're putting it out and connecting it outside of your RV whenever you hook up to shore power, right So that's going to leave an expensive piece of electrical equipment just sitting outside. It's going to be exposed to weather and potentially theft. So this kit will allow you to permanently incorporate that auto former into your RV's electrical system and it will keep the unit safely inside of your electrical compartment.
So on the one side, again, you have the 50 amp cord here that'll hard wire into your RV's transformer switch or main breaker. And then the male plug here will plug directly into that 50 amp outlet on the autoformer. And on the other side, you have the female receptacle, or rather this is the female receptacle here. The male side would be on the RV. And this hard wires to the end of your shore power cord or the line coming from your shore power inlet.
And then the autoformer plugs directly into it. So once everything's installed, you're not going to be dragging that autoformer outside every time you come to a camp and you have to set up. It can stay inside, protect it. The kit's going to get all the hardware you need it. It even has these fancy pliers here for cutting and trimming the wire as needed.
I just left this all wound up from the packaging. And of course, everything here, you just take off the screws to get inside of here to wire everything up as well. And you have all the clamps needed, and again, all the hardware needed as well. So again, folks, just keep in mind, this is a hardware kit only. The compatible Hughes Autoformer is sold separately.
That's item number HU57FR if you need that as well. So this cord here is a five-foot 50-amp. And that's going to wrap up our look together, folks. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.

Easy install for most DIYers.
Perfect for what I needed, but after installing the cable into the bottom of the box I have not been able to screw the cap on the cable all the way...it goes so far and then slips.
GREAT SERVICE THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

no complaints all good
Worked great. Not much else to say. It is a simple wiring device.
Pretty simple to install. I was able to put my Hughes Autoformer inside my rig so I don't have to worry about exposing it to the outside elements or getting it stolen.
Quality unit. I'll be daisy chaining this to the power switch in the RV so I can keep the Autoformer safely out of site and out of the weather.
This kit makes hardwiring the Hughes Power easy, but the reciprocal case is quite large so you need to plan for that. Also wish it would have included a crimper for the ferrules vs the wire cutters.

Glad to hear the kit made the hardwiring easier! That’s a great heads-up about planning for the size of the receptacle box, and including a ferrule crimper would definitely be handy. Were you able to find a good spot to mount everything without too much trouble?
