How Much Torque For Demco Tow Bar Adapter Brackets # DM9523041

Updated 08/15/2025 | Published 07/28/2025

Question:

I installed the Demco to Blue OX DM952341 adapters on my Demco Dominator Tow Bar. The torque instructions are for 85 PSI. I do not have an air pressure based impact drill. What setting should I use with a manual Torque wrench? I have already overtightened and bent one of the adapters and will have to purchase a replacement. A bit frustrated that only a PSI setting was provided and that I will probably have to purchase 2 more adapters to replace the one that was bent by too much of an impact drill. Thank you.

Hey Robert, torque is measured in ft-lbs or in-lbs, sometimes nm. For the hardware you're talking about with the Demco Tow Bar Adapter Brackets for Blue Ox Base Plates # DM9523041, you'll want to torque the grade 5 bolts to 75 ft lbs. Are you sure it didn't say 85 ft lbs of torque? Feel free to send a photo if you can, that seems very strange.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

Hey Robert, did you get a chance to check if the torque instructions were indeed in ft-lbs instead of PSI? I'm asking because I want to make sure you have the right information to avoid any more issues with your adapters. Let me know how it goes!
