Question:

I haul motorcycles, are these straps smooth enough to use on handlebars or fork braces?

Angela, that’s a great question. The CargoBuckle G3 # IMF18800 straps are 2inch wide and retract slowly and evenly, so they’re ideal for securing bikes. If you’re worried about scratching chrome or paint, you might want to add soft loop extensions like 2 of the etrailer Motorcycle Tie-Down Loop Strap # e74BR to wrap around handlebars or frames, then hook the ratchet strap to those. And the retractable housing means no loose ends around tires or wheels.

I have 4 of the etrailer loop straps for my 2 dirtbikes, and it's a game changer. I usually put them on the handlebars before loading, then when I roll them into the truck bed or trailer, I just hook the strap onto the loop and cinch it down. FYI - I would never secure it by the forks, just use the handlebars.

I see you were looking at the CargoBuckle CargoAnchor tie down kit for trailer angle iron # CB69GR. This includes 4 different tie down brackets that you can swap around, and 2 of the aforementioned CargoBuckle G3 straps. Is this suitable for your situation or do you need some assistance narrowing it down?
