Question:
I hope youre doing well. Im planning a move from the West Coast to the East Coast and am considering renting either a 4x6 or a 5x8 trailer for the trip. I drive a 2024 Honda CR-V Sport Touring, and I want to make sure I choose the correct hitch for towing. Could you please advise me on which hitch would be most suitable for my vehicle? Thank you for your help, and I look forward to your recommendation.

Hi Jancy!
I can definitely help you get your 2024 Honda CR-V Sport Touring set up to tow a trailer. For the hitch, I recommend going with the Curt # C13397. It has more then enough capacity and with how it attaches, it has a much more stock look than some of the other options (see attached picture). For wiring, I have found Tekonsha to be the most reliable and the T-One # 118741 plugs right into a plug in the driver side cargo area under an access panel under the cargo net and cover. Quick and easy.
If you will be renting the cargo trailer, you can typically rent a ball mount as well. If you wanted to have one on hand though, you will want the following parts:
Ball Mount: Draw-Tite Ball Mount - 4-3/4" Rise, 6" Drop - 10-1/4" Long - 6,000 lbs # 40346
Ball: 2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter x 2-1/8" Long Shank - Chrome - 7,500 lbs # 63845
Pin and Clip: Pin and Clip for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches - 5/8" Diameter x 3-3/16" Span # C21500
The hitch will sit at 13-1/2" when measured from the ground to the inside top of the receiver opening and the most common height for a coupler on a trailer is 18". so the ball mount has a 5" rise to keep it nice and level. Most rental trailers will also have 2" coupler, but definitely double check that before ordering, just to make sure. The oin and clip will hold everything in place.
Where are you currently on the West Coast? I left Southern Cali for Missouri a little over 10 years ago and man is it a lot less expensive out here! I do miss the beach and the food though.

Hey Jancy, I'm glad I could help with your towing setup for the move. How did everything work out with the Curt hitch and the Tekonsha wiring? I'm curious to know because it could really help others planning a similar trip.
