How To Select Best Ratchet Straps For Securing 1,500 lb Boat And Trailer

Question:

I have a 1500 lbs boat /trailer Would WWL of 300 lbs and max 900 lbs be good for this application

Hello Chris, thanks for reaching out. For ratchet straps you want the WLL to be equal to or greater than the weight of your boat. We do not use the break strength when selecting straps.

So the BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Bow Tie-Down Strap # IMF14220 has a 833 lb WLL and might be more suited for you depending on the weight of your boat.

@Chris Ok cool yes the BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Transom Tie-Down Straps # IMF08893 would work great for that. The WLL will be plenty. With boat tie downs it is more about securing the trailer to the boat than securing the boat to the trailer if that makes sense. The boat is way heavier.
