Will The Yakima Landing Pad 1 Y00221 Work With The HD Tracks Y84MR

Updated 07/18/2025 | Published 07/13/2025

Question:

I have a Yakima system on a truck topper, Landing Pad 1, skyline towers, jetstream bars. I would like to utilize the components other then the tracks on a flat top trailer, which I know will accept the Y84MR HD bars. I dont need the heavy duty aspect, just the 72inch length. Will these accept the landing pad 1, or is it solely for the 26?

Good question, Ron!

The Yakima Landing Pad 1 # Y00221 you have will indeed work with the Yakima 72" HD Tracks # Y84MR. With that said, the weight capacity will be lower than with the Landing Pad 26 # Y75ZR and HD Bar combo. It will only have a 165 lb. dynamic weight capacity for the 2-bar setup instead of the 220 lb. with LP 26 + HD Bar. As long as that weight capacity works for you, you are good to go!

Speaking of which, what are you planning on using it for?

Thank you Lazer, The tracks will be on a custom built teardrop "style" trailer, used to carry a kayak that weighs 65#. The kayak and it's rack set shouldn't exceed 75# static. The roof structure is Filon FRP, laminated to 1/2" ACX ply, which is supported by 3" x 1-7/8" (2" x 4"s laminated and screwed together, then ripped in half) kiln dried pine. These are spaced 16" apart and then screwed to each wall panel which is 3/4" ACX ply. I am roughly 230# and can walk on the roof with no flex. Side note, the trailer also has Etrailer parts #STL59RCB Led tail lights, #HP66VR fenders, and Timbren 3500 Axles

@RonS Sounds like a pretty sweet trailer! With how beefy the roof sounds, you could upgrade to the HD set up if you ever needed to without issues. If decide to do that at any point, just let me know. Sounds like you know where to find us! Any more trips planned for the summer?
