Hello Peter, thanks for reaching out. We do have a really good chain style WD hitch for your 1969 Shasta Starflyte. I recommend the following:

- Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - Underslung - 5.5K GTW, 550 lbs TW # BXW0553

This will work on trailers with a tongue weight between 300 and 550 lbs. The lift brackets must be placed on the frame 29" back from the center of the coupler, so please make sure your trailers tongue has room in this location.

If you do not have room for the frame brackets at 29" just let me know how much room you have and I can see what options we have.

29" to the front of the bracket would just fit. Is the chain type the best option?

@JesseM So I really like the Blue Ox SwayPro in general. I have dealt with it a lot you get solid results and the hitch itself is easy to assemble and easy to adjust. As far as chain systems go it is the best in my opinion. What I consider to be the best WD system is the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System. For your camper it would be part # EQ37060ET. The spring bars are made for trailers with 200-600 lbs of tongue weight and yours falls more within the middle of this range compared to the Blue Ox system I mentioned. The straight spring bars do way more for actual sway control compared to chain systems. The Blue Ox hitch will help to level your vehicle, and will help some with sway. The Equal-i-zer will also help level the ride but will do way more to help with sway. It may take a bit more time to do your initial setup since the pitch of the head may need to be adjusted, but once you have it set up it will be a great thing especially for long trips.
