Question:
Working on custom 4 x 8 trailer, 46 or 48” spring centers. Aiming for trailer and trailer cargo max of 1000 lbs total, to pull with compact car. With trailer brakes, per car mfg recommendation. Came up with 1. e48GR 2000 lb axle, 2. AKHD-545-2-1K 7” hub and drum assemblies, and 3. Etrailer 7” electric brakes, AKE BRK. Assume leaf springs, and 10” wheels. Should it all fit on the 60” axle, or spindles needed? No need for brake flanges, since have the hub and drums? Other suggestions?

Hey Gordon. You're on the right track but you need a different size hub bearing wise and you will definitely need brake flanges to mount the hub and drums. I've made a list below of the parts you'll need:
Trailer Idler Axle Beam with Easy Grease Spindles - 60" Long - 2,000 lbs item # e48GR
Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Trailer Axles - 2K item # 4-34
Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 2K Axles - 7" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 - L44649 - Pre-Greased item # AKHD-545-2-2K
etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - 7" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs item # AKEBRK-2
Do you already have a brake actuator and hydraulic lines? If not, I recommend the Titan Brake Actuator with Manual Lockout - Bolt On - Drum item # T63FR which is designed for drum brakes and uses a 2" ball. It attaches to a 3" wide channel tongue. The manual lock out will allow you to back up your trailer with no electrical connections and is required since there is not a free-backing brake systems in the brake size you need.
For brake lines, you'll want the HydraStar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Single Axle item # HS496-251.

Hey Gordon, did you manage to get the right hub and brake flanges for your trailer setup? I'm curious to know how everything came together, as it could really help others working on similar projects.
