Parts Needed To Tow Nucamp Tab 360 Camper With 2022 Ford Ranger

Updated 07/01/2025 | Published 06/21/2025

Question:

Hi I just bought a nucamp tab 360. Im towing with Ford Ranger 2022, tremor. Can you put together a list of exactly what I need to attach the camper to the truck and safely and comfortably tow it? Also if there is maintenance items or covers to store the parts, that would be helpful. I realize you have great videos, but Im not sure where to start. Id like to have a set up that includes rock tamers to avoid rocks and dirt kicking up on the camper. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey Jesse, Cool name. Correct spelling too lol. You came to the right place. I will go into this assuming your 2022 Ranger has no trailer hitch or trailer wiring connection of any kind.

So first, for the trailer hitch I recommend the Curt Class 3 Hitch # C13417. It has a 2" receiver and 6,000 lb towing capacity. More than enough for your nucamp tab 360 which looks like would weigh between 3,000 and 4,000 lbs max depending how you have it loaded.

Then for your wiring harness use the Curt # C56431. This has a 7-way plug. I am not sure if your camper has the electric brake package or not, so if all you need is a 4-flat just use the adapter part # 337TC2074P. If you do have electric brakes, you will need a brake controller like the Redarc # RED52VR.

We can also do a ball mount setup with rock tamers. Here is what I recommend for that:

- B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 7.5K - Black # BWTS10038B

- Rock Tamers Heavy-Duty, Adjustable Mud Flap System for 2" Hitches - Matte Black # ERT00108

The B&W ball mount will work nicely with the Rock Tamers. The ball mount has 2 pin holes so just use whichever one leaves at least 1" between the back of the ball mount and the receiver opening.

There is no "cover" for the ball mount, but it is designed to be stowed on the back of your vehicle, hence the name. You may want to get a hitch lock like part # e98881 if you plan to do this.

That will cover everything. Was there anything else you were looking for?

Hi Jesse At first glance the parts recommended don't work together. The Rock Tamer cannot fit with the Hitch you sent. The collar of the hitch is a tiny bit too short, and so the pin won't go in. What can be done?

@JesseB That is interesting because I have seen the rock tamers work with the B&W ball mount setup on several different occasions. Are you using the second pin hole on the ball mount? That should allow room for the rock tamers. Is the hitch itself the problem? Or are you saying the ball mount is too short?

@JesseM I'm sorry Jesse. You are right. Also, you and your team are fantastic. I highly recommend etrailer.com. I just feel dumb for making a mistake. All is good with the rock tamers, etc. Please delete my post indicating that they don't work together. I don't want to mislead anyone reading it if it is public. You have a great Independence Day! Best, Jesse B

@JesseB Hey Jesse no worries at all. You just scared me for a second and I was racking my brain trying to figure out what would cause the parts to not work together. Nobody bats 1.000 and I have made mistakes before. I am just glad to hear you are good to go! No need to apologize at all. I probably will go ahead and edit the comments above. If there were a problem with compatibility or something I would absolutely look into it and make it right. I hope you have a great holiday weekend too! Don't hesitate to contact me anytime you need anything. You should have no problem remembering my name haha
