What Ladder Rack will Work on My Retrax Rails on My 2019 Ford F-150 with 6 1/2' Bed?

Question:

Hi, I have a 2019 Ford F150 with a 6.5’ bed and the Retrax with rails. Can you tell me what I can use for crossbars? I was considering the Overhaul, but I am not sure what the right parts are that I would need as a complete kit. Thank you.

Hello Jeff,

Happy to get the right set-up for your Retrax rails.

You were definitely on the right track with the Yakima Overhaul, I am not sure how long you want your crossbars, so here are the options that will work:

- For 68" long crossbars the Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack # Y01151-5855

- For 78" long crossbars the Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack # Y01151-5955

Both options will come with everything you need to get it installed and ready to use.

What are you looking to use the ladder rack for? Kayaks, canoes, an actual ladder, so many possibilities.

Kate, I’m looking to carry two Old Town kayaks. One is 10’6” and the other is 12’6”. My wife and I were looking at options for easier loading since the racks are so high (over the truck bed), and we’d like to carry these side by side. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

@Jeff For the easiest way to get them on the crossbars would be the MOS UpLift Kayak Roof Rack and Lift Assist w/ Tie-Downs # MR89ZV. It is amazing how easy it is to load the kayaks with this MOS system, they just glide on up there. Our etrailer Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style - Folding - Clamp On # e98878 would be a great option, but it will not help with the heavy lifting, but will get them side by side. Another option for transporting them and not having to lift them so high would be to go with a trailer instead of a ladder rack option. The Malone MicroSport Off-Road 2 Kayak Trailer Package - 78" Load Bars - J-Style # MAL74ER would definitely make the loading and unloading easier since they will be closer to the ground.
