What Is Needed to Install Redarc Tow Pro Elite in 2011 Volkswagen Touareg

Question:

I’m shopping for a trailer brake controller for my 2014 Touareg TDI, and I am leaning toward the Redarc Tow Pro Elite. My question is about what else I’ll need to install the controller, and I see apparently conflicting answers on the various questions that have already been answered for VW Touaregs. I already have a Tekonsha 3072-P harness that plugs into my car’s factory wiring on one end and has the flat four-pin connector for a tekonsha controller on the other. Will this also plug into the Redarc so that I need nothing else? Or do I need something different or additional to install the Redarc? Thank you. I’ve been an etrailer customer for roughly 20 years and always satisfied.

Hey Jay, all you need is the Redarc Tow Pro Elite brake controller part # RED82NR and you'd be set. You'd need to cut the black connector off your Tekonsha harness and then splice by color from it to the harness that comes with the Tow Pro and you'd be set. Did you have a Tekonsha brake controller at one point?
