Can Dometic Evolution AC Unit Replace an Advent Air AC Unit

Updated 06/17/2025 | Published 06/08/2025

Question:

I currently have a dometic evolution air conditioner in my horse trailer. It no longer works so Im looking to replace it with the advent. Im not sure how to tell if the advent is going to be compatible with my dometic wiring. I also think I want to add the heat strip but I dont know what all is entailed to get it added when there is not one currently in the trailer.

Hey Jenipher, so at one time we all thought that there was an adapter solution that would allow an Advent AC unit to replace a Dometic and use the Dometic lower vent assembly but what we have found out is that it doesn't consistently work and it's not worth trying. So what you'll need to do instead is replace what you have with the same Dometic unit or go with an entirely different setup that we know will work great like the part # ACM135C which comes with everything needed for a new install.

If I get the #ACM135C I would need to rewire my trailer?

@Jenipher The current wiring would work fine.

Is the ADV34QR the correct heat strip to go with the ACM135C? Do I need anything other than the heat strip to install it?

@Jenipher Yes, the heat strip part # ADV34QR is correct for that unit. It comes with everything needed to install.

I don't see the ACM135C on your website

@JamesonC the ACM135C is what I can't find on your website. It was there before but gone now. What is the recommendation now? There is an ACM135BC still on the website. What is the difference?

@Jenipher The only difference is the color of the AC unit. The # ACM135C is white and the part # ACM135BC is black. For whatever reason we had to take the white version off our site so it's unavailable at the moment. Sorry for the confusion!
