What Tire Size Should I Go Up to on My 2010 R-Pod 177 with Current Tire Size 205/75R14?

Updated 07/23/2025 | Published 05/16/2025

Question:

My travel trailer currently has 205/75R14 tires. I am lifting it 3” and would like to add taller tires. I do not have much room for wider tires though. It’s a 2010 R-Pod 177. I would be willing to go to a 15” wheel for more possible tire options. Something like a 205/85R15 seems ideal, but is a pretty uncommon size. Any suggestions?

Hello Will,

Looking to upsize your wheels and tires on your R-Pod? Always a great idea!

Your current 205/75R14 tires are about 26.1" in diameter and 8.1" wide. We don’t carry the 205/85R15 size, which suggests it's not very common. A more typical upgrade is to 205/75R15, like the Kenda Karrier KR53 ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" Black Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 # KE94WV. This setup will give you roughly an extra inch in diameter.

We've also had customers successfully run 225/75R15 tires on the R-Pod 177. The Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM32459 measures about 28.4" in diameter and increases the width from 8.1" to 8.9".

Did you already upgrade to 15" wheels and just need tires, or are you looking for a wheel and tire combo?

Hi there, Can I mount these 205/75R15 in my 2010 Rpod 177 without lifting the trailer? Can it be moved to my original rims? It I decide to lift up the trailer what will be the right lifting kit, and what tires after that, using my factory rims? Thanks.

@Al Hey there Al. I am happy to help, but I do not have a database that supplies me with what is put on what camper (it would be pretty sweet if such a list existed), so I will need some more information from you. What is your current tire size? Also, what is your axle capacity, and what kind of axle is it? You could always respond to the email you receive with a picture of the axle tag. I look forward to hearing back from you.

@Al Thanks for clarifying. The 205/75R15 will raise things about a 1/2" since you currently have 14" wheels on there, and the 205/75R15 would be for a 15" wheel. You will not be able to mount a 205/75R15 on your original 14" wheel. The # KE94WV will come with the tire and wheel if you wanted to go up in size. If you would like a different style wheel, please let me know. Since you have a Torflex Axle rated at 3,500, the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-707-01 would give you 2 5/8" of a lift. After you put the lift on there, you will need to measure to see what sidewall and width clearance you have to determine exactly how big of a tire you can put on there. I wish there was some kind of database so I can just give you the answers, but without measurements we can't be sure.
