Does 2021 GMC Yukon With Demco Air Force One Need Wiring for Lights

Updated 05/01/2025 | Published 04/30/2025

Question:

Hello I dont understand. I bought the Airforce one that works with my air brakes on my coach. Now I need lights. Your video says I need the wire coach to truck to keep battery charged. Because there is no battery in the rear light bar. Demco LED Tow Light Bar for Towed Vehicles w/ Wireless Transmitter My plan was not to connect any wires, just my air hose. If I have to connect some wires, and the cable from coach to truck, I might as well connect all the wires and save $400. Am I missing something? thanks Norman

Hey Norman! The Demco Air Force One # SM99243 only handles braking. One way or another you need a supplemental braking system and this was the right choice with the air brakes. I'm not 100% sure what parts you have right now but every flat tow setup needs some form of wiring for the lights or a separate tow bar light like the one you described.

Most people install Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267 which ties into their vehicle lights. If you go this route you do not need a separate light like the Demco LED Tow Light Bar # DM36MV. Do you have a battery disconnect? You need one of those as well # RM-766. A charge line is not required for your setup.

I'm assuming you already have your base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, and high-low adapter to complete the rest of your setup. If you're missing any of these parts feel free to reply below and I can make some recommendations.
