Do You Carry Gas Struts for the Thule Weekender, Can I Use the Dual Force Strut in it's Place?

Updated 05/12/2025 | Published 04/24/2025

Question:

Can a Thule dual force strut replace a gas strut on a Thule Weekender Cargo Carrier or better yet do you carry replacement gas struts for the Thule weekender cargo carrier.

Hello Luis,

Yes, the Replacement Dual Force Strut for Thule Roof Box # TH14933 will work for your Thule Weekender Cargo Carrier, and will work to replace the gas strut. We do not have the gas struts, the only replacement part for the Weekender is the # TH14933 as all the other parts have been discontinued.

Did your gas struts just go out, or trying to fix up an old cargo box?

My existing gas struts went out on my Thule WEEKENDER CARGO CARRIER and I am replacing. Are you sure #TH14933 will work before I order? V/R, Luis

@LuisV I got confirmation that they are the correct ones. If you look at the product page you will even see reviews from people that switched to the # TH14933 on their Thule Weekender. This is a 5 star review written by a neighbor (customer): PERFECT! I have a really old (I mean VINTAGE) Thule Weekender and these new hinges were a perfect update from the old gas. So yes, 100% the # TH14933 will replace the gas struts on your weekender.

Hi Kate, The only other question I have is if the balls for the Socket joints remain in the same place on the Thule Cargo Carrier to pop on the new hinges?

@Luis Yes, they do remain in the same place. It is going to be a snug fit, I see in reviews that you really need to push it onto their. Some people have needed to use things like a vice or a small screwdriver to get it onto there. But at least you won't need to worry about it falling out.
