Hello Franklin,
Swapping out your MaxxFan 4951KS for the MaxxFan Deluxe # MA00-07500K is actually a pretty straightforward job, and it’s great that you're going with the Deluxe, it's a solid upgrade. The good news is that both fans fit the standard 14" x 14" roof opening, so you won’t need to cut or resize anything on your roof. In terms of electrical setup, both models run on 12V DC, so your existing wiring should work just fine. Now, when you remove the old fan, you'll want to be careful and take your time, unscrew the trim, disconnect the wiring, and gently pry the fan up from the roof. It's usually sealed down with lap sealant, so a plastic scraper and maybe some mineral spirits will help loosen things up. Once the old fan is off, it's super important to thoroughly clean off all the old sealant so you have a nice clean surface to work with.
When it’s time to install the new fan, do a dry fit first to see if the screw holes line up. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t, so be prepared to drill new ones if needed. Then lay down a fresh bead of lap sealant (LaSalle Bristol XTRM Universal Self-Leveling Sealant - White - 10.1 oz - Qty 1 # 34427034145-1 will get the job done) under the flange, screw it into place, and cover all the screw heads with more sealant to keep everything watertight. From there, just reconnect the 12V wiring, pop on the interior trim, and you’re all set. And yes, definitely reseal the roof around the fan, even if the old sealant looks okay. Once you remove the original fan, that seal is broken, and resealing ensures no leaks sneak in down the road.
Let me know how the install goes, and if you have any questions along the way, you know where to find me =)
