Question:

The black knob turns when the button is pressed and I can manually lift the lid with a stick. I can not seem to pinpoint the issue and would rather not spend a whole lot tryi by to figure it out. Please help.

If the knob is turning but you're getting no lift with your vent lid and you're able to simply lift it with a stick then the gear inside of your lift operator is most likely chewed up and in need of replacement. The correct replacement for a 4500 model MaxxAir MaxxFan is the Replacement Operator Mechanism for MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus or MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vents # MA10-20281K-1AF.

The operator lift will require you to get up on the roof and hold the lid up to access it but is super simple to replace. It's held in place with two screws (seen below) and has the Lift Arm # MA10-20222KS pushed into it.
