Recommended Heat Shield for Diesel Exhaust on a Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screen

Updated 04/21/2025 | Published 04/17/2025

Question:

I have a 2022 pace arrow 35rb motorhome. I would like to purchase the roadmaster defender to protect my toad. The motorhome has a rear exhaust lwith a tail pipe that extends past the bumper and faces down. I am thinking about buying the heat shield but am concerned that with the tail pipe extended out that it might exceed the protection area of the shield. Ive enclosed a picture. Any input that you could give me would be appreciated.

Hey Ray thanks for the picture! That exhaust tip pointing down is going to go a long ways in dissipating the heat from your diesel engine. The attachment point for the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screen for Tow Bars with Quick Disconnects item # RM-4700 is adjustable so you can move it down the shank of your tow bar to ensure the Heat Shield item # RM62GR is positioned above your exhaust tip. The heat shield is going to cover about 10-1/2" after it's folded and installed.

If you have any additional questions go ahead and throw them into the comment box below. What vehicle are you planning on flat towing behind your motorhome?
