Hello Tim,

I'm always looking for a good excuse to stretch my legs, so I was happy to head out to the warehouse and grab the measurements you requested.

The Roadmaster Quick-Disconnect Padlock #RM-301 has a shackle that's 1/4" thick, with a vertical clearance of 1-1/4" and a horizontal clearance of 3/4". I've attached an image for reference as well.

We also have the etrailer Spare Tire Lock for 1/4" to 7/8" Thick Rims - Keyed Alike # e98892 which would work great for locking the wheel to the carrier as well.

Is that going to work for you?

Kate, this helps a lot, thanks. I’ll take a look at the lug nut lock, especially whether it could be used on my rim (see below). Also, regarding the spare tire carrier RM-195125 I ordered, my spare tire rim is not flat, but has a thickness where the lug nut slides into place (a cavity) before threading onto the bolt. The 2 spare tire bolts that came with the carrier are too short to use with the washers on the nut side. Does Roadmaster carry a longer bolt ? Or possibly a true lug bolt and nut that would allow the lug nut to fit within the cavity, then screw onto the lug bolt ?

@TimS I do not see that they have longer bolts, but here are the specs on the ones that are included: ½-13 x 1¾" bolt. You could find a longer bolt at your local hardware store, or use a lug bolt like you mentioned.
