How Can the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier Be Secured to Deter Theft?

Question:

How can the RM 195225 unit be secured against theft? I have a 2018 RV with a 2 inch receiver hitch that I want to install a spare tire carrier on. We are often parked in remote locations and away from the vehicle. How can the RM 195225 unit be secured against theft?

The Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier w/ 2" Receiver Opening - 2" Hitches # RM-195225 can be secured with a hitch lock like the B&W Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - Flush - 2-3/4" Span - Stainless Steel # BWTS51234. Then you can use a spare tire lock like the MasterLock # 262DAT or etrailer.com lock # e98892.

Question:

Many thanks for your detailed response. Will the B&W hitch receiver lock replace the anti-rattle hitch pin? Will it also eliminate rattle? Please advise. Thanks

The Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier w/ 2" Receiver Opening - 2" Hitches # RM-195225 does have a threaded anti-rattle hitch pin, so it will bolt to your hitch for a secure connection. Any hitch pin whether a locking pin like the B&W # BWTS51234 or the standard pin like # C21500 will work to attach a tow bar, but then you would need a separate anti-rattle for reduced movement in that connection.

I recommend the Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer II - 2" Hitches # BX88224 for the very best stability, but the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches # RM-061 would be my second recommendation at a more economical price point.
