Is it Difficult to Transfer Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack From 5th Wheel to Truck

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/03/2025

Question:

How easy/hard is it to take this hitch off the fifth wheel and put it on my truck. When at the campsite like take our bikes elsewhere for riding. Thanks

Hey Joe! What kind of 5th wheel do you have? The hardest part about moving the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack # HLY64FR from your 5th wheel to your truck probably comes from carrying the weight of the rack. Like any rack that can hold up to the back of a 5th wheel, and has a high enough capacity for e-bikes, this is hefty at 63-1/2 lbs.

The actual removal is fairly basic. You have an anti-rattle locking hitch pin and then this also includes an additional hitch tightener to keep everything secure. Removal of the hitch tightener will require loosening the nuts to let the shank slide out so I suppose that may be a little tedious. However, it is worth the trouble to keep movement at a minimum on the back of your trailer.

If you were to ask me for a recommendation for a 5th wheel bike rack it would be the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack # HLY64FR. The padded clamps are a great solution for all of the alternative frame designs that are more and more common. It has an 80 lb capacity per bike to handle almost anything, along with a 5" max tire width for fat tires. It also includes a keyed alike hitch lock, frame clamps, and a cable to keep everything secure. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out in the comments below.

Hey Joe, how did it go moving the Hollywood Racks RV Rider between your fifth wheel and your truck? Was the weight or the hitch tightener the tougher part to deal with? Your experience could help others figuring out the same setup.
