How Can I Install a B&W Patriot in a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500? What B&W Hitches Will Work?

Im thinking about buying a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 and was wonder will any B@W 18lb Patriot work just have to use the proper mounting brackets?

Hello Sherm,
It depends on whether your 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 has the OEM Prep Package (also known as the puck system) in the bed of the truck. I’m assuming you have an 8' bed since you were looking at a stationary hitch rather than a slider (if it’s a 6-3/4' bed, it’s usually recommended to go with a slider hitch to help with sharp turns).
It sounds like you might already have the hitch and are looking to install it in the truck. If that’s the case and you do have the puck system, you’ll need the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch - Dodge Ram Towing Prep Package # C29BR. If your truck does not have the puck system, you’ll want the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWRVK2602.
If you don’t already have the hitch, here are a couple of solid options:
If the 2500 DOES have the puck system, go with the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # BWRVK3600. I know you were looking at the 18K model, but the 25K is the only one we currently offer that fits the puck system.
If the 2500 does NOT have the puck system, then the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram - Dual Jaw - 18,000 lbs # BW29XR is a great choice. This one includes the custom brackets and base rails specific to your truck.
