Option to Carry 2 Bikes and Enclosed Cargo Carrier at Rear of Sprinter

Updated 03/18/2025 | Published 03/17/2025

Question:

Yakima EXO Swing Away 2 Bike Rack w/ Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2 Hitches Is this the only option to carry both bikes and cargo on the back of my sprinter? If it put a hitch on the front of the sprinter does that throw off all of the sensers?

Hey Richard, yes the front sensors of your Sprinter are going to be thrown off if you were to install a front hitch and bike rack on the front of your Sprinter. The only solution that covers all of the things you are looking for would be the Yakima EXO Swing Away 2 Bike Rack w/ Enclosed Cargo Carrier # Y34ZR that you referenced. I know it's not cheap but this does have ability to swing away and give you access to the rear of the Sprinter when needed without requiring you to remove the rack etc. What kind of bikes are you carrying?

I realize that there is a 80 pound weight restriction on the bikes. There will be 1 e bike at 50 lbs and another 30 pound bike.

@RichardR The bike rack portion of that rack does have a 40 lb per bike capacity. I wish it was just 80 lb overall and you could split the weight like you mentioned. Is the battery easily removable and possibly weighs more than 10 lbs? That would get you under the capacity and would for sure be safe if so.
