Will Stromberg Carlson Adjustable Accessory Hitch Receiver Fit 2019 Flying Cloud Airstream
Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/12/2025 >
Question:
I think the Stromberg Carlson Adjustable Accessor Hitch Receiver would fit my 2019 Flying Cloud Airstream. I do not plan to use it to tow or carry heavy weight 100 pounds or less The distance between the frame members is 61.5 inches. Near the bumper and at the rear end of the frame there is metal piece below the frame on both sides that may be for this purpose. It is shaped like a triangle missing the bottom corner. I have attached photos. I am uncertain if the hitch mounting brackets will fit. It is about 12 inches long at the top and about 5.125 inches at the bottom. It is only about 3.125 inches wide.

Hey Donald; I'm fairly certain the bolt hole positioning of the # SC45MR will allow you to attach it to that tab. They're 5-7/8" apart on center and sit 1-1/2" down from the top of the bracket. The instructions call for drilling with a 17mm bit so you need to account for the hole size as well. I would compare this to the tab to make sure everything will fit as intended. Also, you need to check with Airstream to see if that is capable of supporting a hitch.
Is there any other place to attach it? I'm not overly confident they're going to give you the green light on this and it doesn't appear to be very thick based on the pictures. If they do approve it for hitch use I would use the extra brackets as well and drill up into the frame so you have all 4 bolts supporting it just to be safe.

Hey Donald, what ended up working with the Stromberg Carlson adjustable hitch on your Airstream? Did the bolt hole spacing and tab thickness line up the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for the next person working on a similar setup.
