How Does Curt Trailer Wiring Harness # C56190KIT Only have 10 Amp Fuse
Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/17/2025 >
Question:
How does this kit support 7.5A for Tail/Running lights + 7.5A for Turn-Signal/Brake per side if it is also limited by a 10A fuse for the entire circuit? 6A on running lights + 6A on brake lights 3A per side would blow a 10A fuse, right?

Hey John, so when the turn signal or stoplight circuit is active at same time as running light circuit the running light circuit shuts off and does not combine the amperage draw of both circuits.
So the max this would draw is 8.4 amps when the brake lights are on.

Hey John, did that explanation about how the running light circuit shuts off when the brake or turn signal is active clear things up for you? Knowing how it worked in practice could help others understand the current draw on this converter.
