Curt Brake Controller Powers Trailer Brakes All the Time Except with Brake Pedal on 2007 Chevy Tahoe

Question:
I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe and put in the Curt brake controller. The problem is the power is constant when the truck brakes are off causing the trailer brakes to be on. When I step on the brake the the trailer brakes are realsed. I followed the wire diagram for the truck and used the the wires that were pushed back for the trailer brakes. Any answers

It sounds like the brake controller red wire is not connected to the correct tow package wire on your 2007 Chevy Tahoe. As you said under the dash is a tow package wire bundle to install a brake controller. There should be a red/black wire, white, light blue/white, and dark blue wires. And an orange wire.
The brake controller red wire needs to be attached to the light blue/white wire on the Tahoe wiring. This is the input signal from the brake switch. It should not be attached to the orange wire which is the center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL).
I have included a link to a help article that explains the connections for you. I have also linked a video that should help. It is a newer Tahoe and different brake controller but the wiring colors and installation are the same as on your 2007 and the Curt brake controller.
And finally, I have linked a couple of help articles on testing and troubleshooting brake controllers.
