How to Test Demco Charge Line Kit DM66VR if its Working

Updated 02/09/2025 | Published 02/06/2025

Question:

I bought the demco charging cable and installed it. It appears to be installed correctly. How can I test it to make sure that it is working properly? Thanks

Hey Andy, do you have a circuit tester like the part # PTW2993? You could probe the wire of the Demco Charge Line Kit part # DM66VR and see if there is voltage present. If so, then it's charging like it should be.

I have a light, but it lights up when the battery is connected to the charge vehicle, or even when it's not, so that isn't very helpful. However, I did have a voltage tester that i used...when the towed vehicle is not running (and not connected to the towed vehicle), the battery voltage reads 12.57. And when the charge cable is connected between the towing vehicle and the towed vehicle (and the towing vehicle is running), the voltage reads 12.72. So, I assume that the towed vehicle is receiving a slight charge from the towing vehicle. I'm surprised that it isn't getting more of a charge, but perhaps that's because its more of a trickle charger. Please let me know if my thinking is in error. thank you.

@Andy That does show that it is connected and charging. It doesn't seem like much but that is accurate considering how thin the wire gauge is.
