Question:
Hello ,im looking to get a hitch for my 1954 Chevy Belair 2dr. Sedan . It needs to be a 2 tube reciever that can hold a 70lb. E-bike Wicked Thumb . Problem is , it needs to be strong as Wicked Thumb ONLY recommends the Hollywood Ebike rack which has requirments . Says extension cannot be longer than 8 BUT WILL need to be for to work on a 1954 chevy . So this would need to be custom and strong enough to support 70lbs. With the extended tube . Any ideas

Hey Steve, thanks for reaching out. That is a pretty cool car! They have a fully restored Bel Air at the transportation museum here in St. Louis and it really is a sight to behold.
There really is not a big market for Bel Air trailer hitches though, if you know what I mean. The only option here would be to take a 2" raw finish receiver tube like the Gen-Y Weld-On 2" Receiver Tube # 325-GH-003 to a welder and have them fabricate something for you. As you said, this would be a completely custom job so these are no instructions for this. The # 325-GH-003 receiver tube can support up to 16,000 lbs so as long as you can come up with a nice solid structure to attach to, I have no doubt it could handle the Hollywood E-Bike rack and Wicked Thumb E-Bike. There are no custom fit hitches made for the 1945 Chevy Bel Air so having someone fabricate something will be the only option.
Feel free to reply below if you have any other questions.

Hey Steve, how did the custom hitch setup for your Bel Air turn out with the weld-on receiver tube? It’d be great to hear if the structure handled your Wicked Thumb e-bike the way you needed. Your update could make it easier for others working on older cars.
