Could Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller be Used as a Manual Only Option for Tractor

Published 01/13/2025

Question:

I have a trailer equipped with it electric brakes that I use in my hilly yard. I tow it with my small garden tractor. My tractor does not have any trailer light wiring whatsoever. Because of the uneven terrain, I was wanting to get the brakes electric brakes on my trailer to stabilize and slow it when going downhill. Would it be possible to mount a seven way socket receiver to my tractor and connect ONLY the black +12 V wire and white -12 V wire from it and use the echo C51180 connected to the trailers wiring harness with app to manually engage the brakes whenever needed? TY!

Hey Ed, this is actually a great idea and would work just like you described. Having just power and ground ran to a 7-way that the Curt Echo # C51180 is plugged into would allow you to manually operate it from your phone.

If you don't have a 7-way already you could use the part # R7CB.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
