Do Ramp Door Springs with Two Springs Always Have More Capacity Than Single Springs
Published 01/09/2025 >
Question:
Hi, Is there a reason why the 7 trailer door single spring has a 150lb capacity while the 7 double spring only has a 130lb capacity? Id like to get the most heavy duty option which I would assume is the double spring.

Hey David, I am not totally sure which two springs you are comparing but just because a dual spring torsion ramp door spring like the part # ERS160D96 has two springs doesn't always mean it has more capacity than a single spring. The springs can all be rated differently so it is possible a single spring is rated a lot higher than the two springs on a double setup. Does that make sense? It looks like you ordered the part # ERS160D96 which is a great option for 8 foot wide enclosed doors and has a 160 lb capacity.

Thanks Jameson. I decided to go for the 8ft one since it has a higher load capacity and can be cut down for a 7' door
