Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/22/2024

Question:

I have a TIEDOWN Model 70 surge brake actuator. Looks like it is a 7000 lb cap. ...What would be the replacement for it?

HI Jamison; nobody makes an exact replacement for the old TDE 70 style so the best option is one that bolts onto the top of your trailer tongue. I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM72VR (drum brakes) or # DM62VR (disc brakes). These fit a 3" wide tongue and feature the EZ-Latch coupler mechanism which lets you hook up with the latch in the closed position.

Hey Jamison, how did things turn out with the Demco hydraulic brake actuator on your trailer tongue? Your update could make it easier for the next person replacing an older TDE 70 setup.
