How Tall is the Front Runner Roof Rack for a 2022 Land Rover Defender 110
Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/10/2024 >
Question:
Hi, Im wondering what the total added height/clearance would be to my vehicle with these installed? Im trying to still fit into my garage with my 2022 Defender 110 SE and Ive only got a few inches of clearance as it is. I installed the Thule Wingbar Evo system and it is too tall, so I need another solution and Im hoping these will be shorter, once installed, than the Thules. Also, I want to know if theyre still high enough to clear the GPS shark fin antenna in the back, i.e. if I were to put a flat piece of wood, or a surfboard, on the installed racks, would they still be tall enough to clear the antenna. thanks!

Hey Alex! The legs on the Front Runner Roof Rack item # FR45MJ are adjustable between 2.9"-3.3" tall. The load bars are just under 1" thick. Together they are going to sit 4.25"-4.65" tall above the OEM rails. I do not know how tall your 2022 Land Rover Defender's shark fin antenna is.

Hey Alex, did the Front Runner roof rack end up giving you enough clearance to fit your Defender in the garage? It’d be great to know if it also cleared the shark fin antenna. Your update could make it easier for others working with tight garage space.
