Recommended Replacement Suspension Components For A 2016 Jayco White Hack 27DSRL
Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/28/2024 >
Question:
2016 Jayco 27DSRL The suspension springs on my camper are worn out and would like to replace them with a more robust system MORyde rubber equalizers, wet bolts, and stronger springs. Is it acceptable to change my 4-leaf springs with 6-leaf springs? Thanks for your help. BTW…your website is among the best I’ve found. Keep up the good work.

Hey Mark,
The amount of leafs in the spring stack is not as important as you'd think and more leafs doesn't always equate to a higher capacity. To get the correct springs for your trailer you'll need to jack up one side of the trailer by the frame and let the axles hang. This will take the pressure off of the leaf springs on the lifted side and allow you to measure from the center of one eyelet over to the center of the other eyelet. The next thing we'll need is the axle capacity which is typically listed on a sticker on the axle tube. If your sticker is missing or unreadable then you can measure the diameter of the axle tube. Based on the GVWR you most likely you have 3,500lb axles, but it's always best to confirm.
To replace the equalizer you'll measure from center to center of the shackle strap bolt holes as well as vertically from the center of the hanger bolt hole down to the center line between the two shackle strap bolt holes.
For the shackle strap/wet bolts you'll once again measure from center to center of the bolt holes to determine the correct fit. Typically you'll have either a 2-1/4" or 3-1/8" spacing.
Let me know what you find and I'd be happy to pick out the right replacements.
