Is It Possible To Carry Elliptigo 11r Elliptical Bike With Yakima OnRamp LX Y88DJ

Updated 11/25/2024 | Published 11/24/2024

Question:

I have an Elliptigo 11r and a 62 lb ebike with fenders. I also have a Kuat Sherpa which is useless for transporting either of these, so I was looking for a rack that would serve me for both “bikes”. Many of the racks that I reviewed work for the ebike, but can’t accommodate the smaller wheels of the Elliptigo. The Inno has one that works for the Elliptigo, but doesn’t work with bikes with fenders. The Quikr Mach 2 has a similar issue. It looks like the Onramp LX can solve the ebike problems, which are the weight and fenders. What is not clear to me is whether it will be able to transport the Elliptigo. Do you have any recommendations? My car is a 2022 Outback Limited XT with an aftermarket Class III 2” hitch. The hitch was purchased from Etrailer in 20022 with order number 113650852. Thanks

Hello Marc, thanks for reaching out. Looking at these Elliptigo 11r elliptical bikes, I do think you could carry one with the Yakima OnRamp LX # Y88DJ. The Elliptigo has a 54" wheelbase which is within parameters for the OnRamp. The clamp would attach to the handlebar upright.

The thing is fitting the e-bike on the rack at the same time. It looks like the elliptical "pedals" stick out pretty far to each side and I have concerns about the e-bike fitting on the rack at the same time as the elliptical given the limited spacing between the wheel trays. I wish I could be of more help here, but we have no way of testing this, so the only way to know for sure would be to try both bikes and see how it fits. We have heard of bike racks like the OnRamp working to carry a single elliptical e-bike. Trying to fit a second bike at the same time really would be uncharted territory.

If you don't want to chance it, you could try reaching out to the folks at Elliptigo to see if there is a bike rack they can recommend.

Thanks Jesse. I wasn’t clear, but I would only be transporting one or the other. One more question, how about the sane questions about the Hollywood Destination rack?

@MarcS Oh ok yes I believe the OnRamp will work well for carrying one or the other at a time. The Hollywood Destination will not work for carrying the Eliptigo bike. The max wheelbase for the Destination rack is 50". The Eliptigo has a 54" wheelbase so this would not fit.
