Looking For Weight Distribution System For 2023 Stealth Cobra Enclosed Trailer With Short Tongue

Updated 11/12/2024 | Published 11/10/2024

Question:

I have a 2025 stealth cobra enclosed trailer. 8.5 x 18 x 7.5. 2700 lbs dry weight. 2 5200lbs axles. 9,900 lbs or so gross vehicle wt. Aluminum. I feel like I should have a sway control when towing. 2500 duramax. I tow a 35 ft camper no problem. Cargo trailer has a short tongue. What system fits a cargo trailer?

Hello Brian, thanks for reaching out.

How short is the tongue on your enclosed trailer exactly? I ask because it sounds like this will be the main factor in choosing your weight distribution hitch. For example, a really good option for a 9,900 lb GVW trailer is the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37120ET. The brackets for this system must be placed on the frame 27" - 32" back from the center of the coupler. I suggest you measure the tongue of your trailer to see if you have room for brackets in this location. As long as there are no obstructions on the frame, the # EQ37120ET is definitely what I recommend.

If you do not have room on the tongue for the Equal-i-zer system, just let me know what kind of space you have on the tongue and I am happy to see if we have any other options for you.

I will measure that. 2 5/16 recriver. I guess I should have mentioned my other concern 1st. Aluminum frame. Will it be over stressed or compromised by attaching a WD hitch?

@Brian Weight distribution systems can be used on an aluminum trailer. We do recommend that you consult the manufacturer of your trailer to determine if your model of trailer is approved for use with a WD hitch. Some aluminum trailers are compatible but others aren't.
