Replacement Brake Kit for 4.4K Axle on 2021 Keystone Hideout Travel Trailer

Updated 11/06/2024 | Published 11/05/2024

Question:

I have a 2021 Keystone Hideout with a 4.4k axle. Will the Lipert LC66WD work? Just want a backup in case something fails and I am in the middle of nowhere. The drums are fine but if not easily available at most trailer supply houses, the brakes are not. Found that out the hard way.

Hey Scott!

Yes, the 4.4K Lippert Electric Trailer Brakes # LC66WD are exactly what you need for the 4.4K axle on your 2021 Keystone Hideout.

We actually went round and round with this issue as well so you aren't the only one. We were finally able to get the correct replacement brakes for the Lippert 4.4K axles and we try to avoid recommending anything else because everything else is so hit and miss.

Let me guess, they were trying to sell the 3.5k assembly which has a different bolt pattern. Same thing happened to me at a local trailer shop.

@Scott Yup! That's exactly what was going on. There was enough confusion around it that one of the guys on our team did a deep dive and reached out multiple times to Dexter Axle and Lippert to try to get an answer. What we found is that the 4.4K Lippert brake kit is what works 100% of the time with the Lippert 4.4K axles.

@JonG " What we found is that the 4.4K Lippert brake kit is what works 100% of the time with the Lippert 4.4K axles." Just wanted to make sure the 4.4K Lippert brake kit works on a Dexter axle.

@Scott No, from our experience the Lippert brake kit has a different bolt pattern than the Dexter Axle design. The Lippert looks to have a 2-7/8" square bolt pattern so you'll want to verify that works with your setup prior to purchasing. I thought we were talking about the Lippert setup which is why I was going that route.
