Converter Charger For 12 Volt AGM Batteries

Updated 12/23/2025 | Published 10/18/2024

Question:

I have 6 Renogy 100Ah 12VDC AGM batteries with 900W of Solar panels on Victron chargers. Rated 30A max charge rate each battery. When Sun is short, I want to charge from land power or Generator. With 6 AGM batteries in parallel, which charger is best? Choices in the store are Lead Acid or Lithium, there is no AGM category?

Hi Cris,

I believe you are talking about a converter charger, and we do have one that will work with your AGM batteries; what you need is the Go Power RV Converter and Smart Battery Charger # 34266168.

This is actually designed specifically for AGM (and flooded lead acid) batteries, which I verified with the manufacturer for you.

Hey Cris, how did things go with the Go Power converter and smart charger for your six AGM batteries? Did it give you the charging performance you needed when running off land power or your generator? Your experience could help others managing similar solar setups.

@JerredH The unit charges 14+ DC Volts about 50A for only 30 minutes then drops to 13+ and continues charging for hours. On my 6 AGM it never gets finished, eventually drops down to 2-3A charge. My 6 battery parallel set up could use 14+ charge much longer than 30 min, but other batteries would be pushing overload... Each of mine can charge at 30A, so I would be able to charge 180A at 14.8 VDC max...
