Question:
hi. I have a ford ecoline 350 superduty van. I purchesed the kit from you guys to convert the 4 pin connection to a 7 pin so that I can utilize the traiker breakes. I have a curt break controller. It seems that the manual break on the controler works but not the auto when I press the trucks break. I do hear a humming sound at the trailer breaks when the trucks breaks are pressed. Can you please help? Thank you anthony

I would be happy to Anthony! If you are using a proportional brake controller like the Curt item # C38GV or item # C51180 you won't be able to test to see if it's working while the trailer is parked. The only thing you would be able to test is the manual override, which sounds like it is functioning correctly so that's a great sign. Proportional controllers only engage your trailer's brakes when you press them while moving or slow down.
I recommend checking all of your connections to make sure there's no damaged wires or faults. You can use a voltage tester like item # PT89ZR to see if your brake controller is receiving the correct amount of voltage. It should be receiving 12 volts at the brake controller. If not you've got a wiring or a ground issue.
The amount of voltage at the trailer connector will vary depending on the gain setting of the controller. You can test to make sure you are getting signal at the trailer connector by using a tester to check the blue wire while engaging the manual override.
If you need additional help please comment below with what kind of controller you have and any new information you've figured out troubleshooting.

Hi Jerred Thanks for the response. the contoller I Have is Curt Triflex break controller . so if I understand this correctly, I cannot test the unit by jacking up the trailer. I would have to be moving for the break to actually work but the manual you can test while it’s jacked up does this sound correct?
