What Info is Needed to See About Going from 12 inch to 13 inch Trailer Wheels/Tires

Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/23/2024

Question:

Hello! I have a Sea Doo Move ski trailer and it is time for new tires. It comes with a 12” wheel but for better longer drives would like to switch to at least a 13” wheel. Is this possible and if so do I need to change the fenders? Thank you for any info you can provide! Joe

Hey Joe, so going to a larger wheel diameter is possible but it really comes down to how much fender clearance you have now whether or not yours would need to be raised or replaced. What tire size do you have now and what is your wheel bolt pattern? Also what is the distance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender.

Generally speaking you will want to have 3 inches minimum from the top of your tire to the fender of your trailer to accommodate for suspension travel. Having a little more wouldn't hurt, but I wouldn't recommend any less than 3 inches.

I attached a link to a page that has all of the 13 inch tire and wheel combos we sell as well.

Hey Joe, were you able to check the clearance between your tire and the fender on your Sea Doo Move trailer? Once you have those measurements, it’ll be easier to see if a 13-inch wheel like the Kenda Karrier will fit. Let me know what you find—I’m here if you need a hand narrowing it down.
