Can I Use the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver in the Drop Position?

Question:
just purchased the HT5R hitch adapter for use carrying new ebikes on our 2018 Honda CRV with no problems the HT5R was required as i needed to buy new carrier replacing 1 1/4 Thule camber rack in order to accommodate ebikes. The other vehicle is a Volvo convertible equipped with 1 1/14 hitch, but receiver opening is too far in for the HT5R riser to clear the bumper. Can it safely be installed upside down so I dont have this issue? Though it will then be close to ground.

Thanks for the picture Keith! Yes you can use the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" item # HT5R upside down in the drop position.

Hey Keith, how did things go using the HT5R hitch adapter in the drop position on your Volvo? It’d be great to hear if that setup gave you the clearance you needed. Your update could make it easier for others working with similar hitch spacing.
