Roof Rack For Carrying Kayak On Leer 122 Topper On 2010 Toyota Tacoma

Updated 09/18/2024 | Published 09/12/2024

Question:

I have a Leer 122 topper on my 2010 Tacoma. Topper has 2 heights. I want to install 2 crossbars to carry a 17foot canoe. So front crossbar height needs to be about 6inch higher than rear crossbar height. What can you suggest?

Hello Terry, thanks for reaching out. I do have a solution for you, and we do offer a roof rack system that can be used on your Leer 122 topper, but nothing that will have crossbars at different heights. For example, what I recommend for your Leer topper is the Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack for Camper Shells # Y02-480B. This is a track mounted roof rack system with 54" aero crossbars. The towers all mount to the same track so there is no way to have one bar taller than the other.

You can certainly still use this setup to carry a kayak. If you need the front to sit up higher, I suggest using a simple foam block setup like part # MAL25VR. You can use these on the front crossbar only to lift up the front of the kayak to help it clear the roof of your Tacoma.

You will find our review video for the Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack for Camper Shells # Y02-480B linked below. Let me know if you have any other questions.
