My question is can you purchase brake shoes alone or must you purchase a whole new brake assembly?

Hey Eddie, thanks for reaching out!
The 12" etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting # AKEBRK-7-SA don't have replacement brake shoes so you'll either have to get entirely new assemblies, or you'll need to go with 12" Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brakes # 23-464-465 which have the Left Hand # K71-675 and Right Hand # K71-676 replacement shoes.
