Yakima LockNLoad or Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform For Elevate Rack on Ford Maverick

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 08/29/2024

Question:

I’m looking at getting a cargo platform and debating between a Yakima Lock N Load Platform and a Rhino Pioneer Platform. The rack I have is an Elevate Rack for the ‘22 Ford Maverick. Do you have a recommendation for which one affixes to the rack easier? I’d like to remove when I’m not using so ease of install is always ideal.

Hey Alvin,

There is quite a bit of similarity in mounting either platform to your the TruXedo Elevate Rack # TX76NV on your 2022 Ford Maverick, though the easier to fully remove is the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Roof Rack Platform for Crossbars # RR42115BF.

You will affix the platform (and remove it) by tightening the clamps with an included Allen Key, while the LockNLoad # Y05044-39 requires a bit more setup and a 1/2" socket for install and removal. But there will be more pieces (due to the use of different bracket types) with the LockNLoad so it's something I would say is a bit more permanent.

Hey Alvin, how did things go with the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform on your Elevate Rack? Was it as easy to remove and reattach as you were hoping? Your experience could make it easier for others comparing these two platforms.
