Adding 7-Way Connector to Trailer With 4-Way

Question:
I want to convert my trailers 4-pin connector to a 7 pin connector but not with an adapter. How would I wire it?

Hi Nestor; all you need to do this is a 7-way connector. You can use the # PK12706 or get a 7-way with a plug and lead like # H20042. You will match your current 4-way wires up with the correct wires/pins on the 7-way so the functions carry over correctly.
If you get the plug and lead the white is ground, left turn/brake is red, right turn/brake is brown, and tail lights/running lights is green. Your current 4-way likely has the standard colors with yellow for left turn/brake, green for right turn/brake, and brown for the running lights so make sure you match it up by function and not color.
If you just get the connector you can use the diagram below. Since you don't need the 12V power, brake output, or auxiliary/reverse you can just leave them disconnected or cap off the wires.
