2011 Ford F-250 Suspension Enhancement to Work with Air Bags for Heavy Gooseneck Towing

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 08/28/2024

Question:

I have a 2011 f250 without the overload spring. I added air bags to help with a gooseneck hook but I don’t want to rely on just those to support it. I was looking at hellwig 3500 helper springs or the super spring helper. Looking for suggestions on what’s the better set up or what most people run. I believe im around 3500 pin weight with the trailer. Thanks

Hey Eric, thanks for reaching out!

If you didn't already have air bags on your 2011 Ford F-250 then I would be recommending the Hellwig Load Pro 35 # HE44TR that you were looking at because the kit is designed for that 3,500 lb pin weight you have with your trailer.

Since your air bags will be able to handle that whole load themselves, it makes more sense to go with the lighter load capacity in the 2,500 lb SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit # SSA22 to save a few bucks.

Both Hellwig and SuperSprings are excellent leaf spring products and will get the job done. We've carried SuperSprings for a while now so I'm more familiar with them, but even before we carried Hellwig I would get people asking us questions about them so both have a great reputation on the market as well.

Hey Eric, how did things turn out with the SuperSprings on your F-250 and gooseneck setup? Did they give you the support you were looking for alongside the air bags? Your update could make it easier for others towing similar weight.
