Question:

We have a 2021 Jeep Gladiator Willys we are setting up to flat tow behind our truck/camper combo. I recently bought a roadmaster sterling tow bar with a brake buddy. We have some of the wiring and safety cables. However, I know we at least need the base plates. In order to ensure the brake buddy and lights work, can you confirm what other harnesss I may need? So much out here its hard to tell 100. Thank you!

Hi Carrie,

Since you have a Roadmaster Sterling All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-576 you'll want to go with a Roadmaster baseplate to avoid having to purchase an additional adapter to connect to it. If you have a factory steel or plastic bumper then you can go with the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5.

For the Brake Buddy Vantage Select you need the remote # HM39505, power cord for the main unit, and breakaway kit # HM39327.

For the lighting you can go with the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 unless you have ParkSense Proximity sensors, in which case you'll need part # RM63MR instead.

How do we know if we also need this as listed in the description - Brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if used with supplemental braking system

@Carrie You brake light switch isn't usable so you won't need a brake lite relay kit. The system inside of Jeeps that would allow the turn signals to override the brake signal will typically shut off around 15-20 minutes after being setup to flat tow so the issue fixes itself, luckily.

Thank you! I actually got a remote with the unit, but no 12volt cord. I tried searching for that but do not see it seprartely. Is it available somehow? Thx!
