How to Determine Bearings For Horse Trailer

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/24/2024

Question:

I need a set of wheel bearings for a 3 horse slant WagonMaster horse trailer, MFG date is 3/99. I have not taken out the bearing yet for the size. TIre size is 235/80/16, two axle 8 lug tires. GVWR is 7000, GAWR for both front and rear is 6000. VIN is 1S9HG2920XR671003. Let me know if you need additional info. Thanks

Hello Merle,

Though we can't do anything with a VIN and have no way of knowing what bearings are on any specific trailer, you can find the right ones just by measuring. You'll need a digital caliper for this that goes to the thousandths of an inch, and you'll want to measure your spindle just as in the diagram below.

For example, since you mentioned a 6,000 lb axle, if the spindle's inner bearing measured 1.750" (bearing 25580), your outer bearing measured 1.250" (bearing 15123) and the grease seal measured 2.125" you would use Bearing Kit # BK3-110.

I have added a link below to our entire selection of bearings for you.

Hey Merle, were you able to measure the spindle on your WagonMaster trailer to confirm which bearing kit fits? Knowing what you found could help others trying to match bearings for similar axles.
