Question:
Hi, I asked another expert about the difference between the FXP10 and the TJ12000101 jacks. I understood from that contact that the two jacks are essentially the same except how the bracket on the jack fastens to the bracket on the trailer. It appears they both bolt on to the trailer as it appeared in the pictures however there appears to be a difference in how the jack plate and the mounting bracket plat are attached. Unfortunately I had already ordered the FTJ12000101 jack not understanding this. It appears it has been shipped at this point. So now Im concerned about this difference between the two jacks. If one is more or less durable, functional, easy to assemble or install etc. Can you please clarify the difference in how the jack plate is attached on the two models and how this impacts my questions. I have no ideas as to the pros and or cons of both jack plate attachments to the mounting bracket methods. Id hate to have to invest in sending the one I ordered back as a result of the difference on this issue. I looked at the review on the FTJ12000101 and there was mention of a jack ring in the video but I didnt see it pointed out where it is or how that impacts my questions.

Hey Dave,
The snap ring on the Jack # FTJ12000101 you purchased isn't a bad thing. I would say it's the older style and it can sometimes be annoying to remove, but as far as functionally goes, it won't have a negative impact on how the jack operates. You can find snap ring pliers at your local hardware or home improvement store to make removing the ring easier.
The # FXP10 jack has a more common bolt and nut but that just means it's easier to remove when the need arises.
Attached is a photo of the snap ring so you can get a better idea of what it looks like.

Ok thanks! Since sending the last email to the guy that did the review I checked our existing jack closer and it actually has the snap ring too. So in terms of operation and durability or stability/strength of the jack plate to the mounting bracket plate there isn't a concern regarding quality or durability of snap ring versus bolt on, but rather mainly the concern would lay with one perhaps being more challenging to remove the snap ring to separate the jack plate from the mounting bracket as compared to removing bolts to do the same. So neither one is necessarily more stable under load when off the vehicle and setting on the wheel given difference in how the two plates are connected on either jack. Is that understanding correct? I'll check out the snap ring pliers mention previously and compare to what I have to see if I may need to look at getting a different pair or not if needed.
